Deer Park Residence

Location: Park City, Utah

Located adjacent to one of Deer Park’s magnificent ski runs, the concept for this vacation residence was to create a living environment that was unique to the western lifestyle.

To fashion this space the design direction was to construct a true log home.  Large diameter spruce trees trucked in from Canada set atop a cast-in-place concrete foundation to resist the potential earthquake forces of central Utah.

Careful detailing of the logs that are chinked and adjustable to accommodate future settling. The home perches high with views of the Wasatch Range.  The aesthetic of the logs is complimented with local sandstone both at the exterior and expressed inside the residence.

Inside the aesthetic created from wood and stone is warm with comfortable eclectic furnishings. The three guestrooms all have a unique character ranging from the high Eagles Nest that provides 360 degrees of views with floor to ceiling glazing, to the lower level intimate Grotto with a bath/shower carved out of local stone.
