JEG’S High Performance Auto Parts and Accessories is a national catalog retailer of high-performance auto parts.  This growing business needed a new corporate headquarters that integrated offices, research and distribution into a single facility.  The new headquarters, designed by Acock Associates, is composed of a 145,000 sq ft automated distribution center, a 30,000 sq ft attached office building and call center, and a 26,000 sq ft research building for development of racing vehicles sponsored by the company.

Integration of the facility required extensive coordination with the materials handling systems suppliers and highly developed structural design. Many of the conveyor systems were supported by the building roof structure. The floor served as the foundation which supported equipment platforms and sections of storage racking. This storage racking in the high bay warehouse provided the structural support for the roof.

Our client wanted a design solution that drew on the rich imagery of the racing and automotive industries to create buildings and spaces that reflected the speed, power, and pageantry inherent in auto racing.  The site planning included a drag strip, the building envelope included sweeping, dynamic roof lines, and the building’s siding was pinstriped—all architectural reinforcement of Jeg’s vision, products and image.
